Cobot Press Tending

A customer came to us with an issue we are seeing more and more of lately - “We can’t find enough people to run our presses”. They were paying several thousand dollars a week in overtime just to get product out the door. The topic of automation came up and we got involved to handle the automating of a high volume, press tending application.

We paired a Universal Robot UR5e collaborative robot with a custom bar feeder to a 50 year old press and the end result was a quick and consistent automated application.

In the plant managers words “Your robot did in three days what would take my guys almost two weeks.” The project was a great success and we are already working on our second and third project with this customer.
