Position: Automation Technician
Location: Chicago, IL
About Us: Designhawk Innovations is a custom automation systems integrator. We work with manufacturers in and around Chicago to automate processes at their factories through the use of robotics and fixed automation solutions. We pride ourselves in building reliable machines and have an excellent track record with many repeat customers.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineers and project teams to bring automation concepts to life.
Execute machining tasks to fabricate components needed for automation systems.
Handle assembly of mechanical parts, ensuring accuracy and reliability in the final product.
Construct and wire electrical panels, ensuring proper connections and adherence to safety standards.
Install and integrate automation components, including motors, sensors, and control systems.
Support on-site installation and commissioning.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; Technical certification or associate degree in a relevant field preferred.
Proven hands-on experience (3+ years) in machining and assembly, preferably in an automation, manufacturing, or product development setting.
Proficiency in operating machining tools (lathe, mill, CNC), and adeptness in interpreting technical drawings.
Strong aptitude for mechanical assembly and the ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
Knowledge of electrical panel layout and wiring, with experience in panel construction and schematic interpretation.
Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Familiarity with basic programming and troubleshooting of PLCs and HMIs is a plus, but not required.
